👉 When Do You Need a Rollback Plugin?
While updates are essential for security patches and new features, they can sometimes lead to unexpected issues that disrupt your site’s functionality.
A rollback plugin is required when updating a plugin, theme, or WordPress core, causing the website to crash, become unresponsive, or throw errors.
This can happen for various reasons, such as compatibility issues, bugs, or security vulnerabilities introduced by the update.
In such situations, a rollback plugin can quickly restore the previous version of the plugin, theme, or WordPress core, getting your website back up and running.
Rollback plugins are also essential for developers and site administrators who must test and debug issues. By allowing them to quickly roll back to a previous version of a plugin or theme, developers can identify and fix problems more efficiently, reducing downtime and minimizing the impact on the website’s functionality.
Additionally, rollback plugins can help resolve conflicts between updated plugins and custom code or theme modifications. If an update causes issues with your website’s custom code or theme, a rollback plugin can quickly restore the previous version of the plugin.
Furthermore, rollback plugins can be a lifesaver when an update introduces security vulnerabilities.
By allowing you to roll back to a previous version quickly, you can mitigate the risk and protect your website from potential security threats.
Finally, rollback plugins can also help when a site administrator accidentally updates a plugin or theme, causing unintended changes.
Overall, a rollback plugin is essential for any WordPress website, providing a safety net in case things go wrong during an update.
👉 What is Super Rollback? How is it Different From Other Rollback Plugins?
Rollback plugins such as WP Rollback and Core Rollback allow you to revert plugins, install themes, and the WordPress core to an earlier software version.
They are designed for disaster recovery. But unlike these traditional rollback plugins, Super Rollback takes a preventative approach.
Here’s how it works: when you update a plugin, Super Rollback automatically saves the old version. This way, if an update causes issues, you can quickly revert to the previous version using the data stored by Super Rollback.
The key difference is that Super Rollback requires proactive installation and activation on your website before any issues arise, whereas WP Rollback and Core Rollback are typically used as emergency solutions after a crash.
By installing Super Rollback ahead of time, you can safeguard your website against potential update issues and minimize downtime.
👉 Super Rollback Pricing
There is a free and paid version of the plugin.
You can roll back to only one previous version with the free version.
The paid plugin allows rolling back to 5 previous versions.
You can also add a reason for the rollback to keep other admins informed or to be able to recall what prompted you to roll back a plugin in the past.
When writing this, Jay, the founder, said he is working on a Super Rollback feature that will allow you to roll back plugin versions even when you lose access to the WordPress dashboard due to a rouge update.
The paid plugin has three licensing options: a single website license for $10, a three-website license for $15, and an unlimited website license for $35.

👉 Rolling Back Plugins With Super Rollback (Quick Guide)
As we said earlier, Super Rollback is a straightforward plugin. It’s easy to use. You just need to take the following steps:
Step 1: Install & Active Super Rollback Plugin
For demonstration purposes, we are using the paid Super Rollback plugin.
The paid plugin must be downloaded from your welcome email or Super Rollback account.
Install and activate the plugin on your WordPress dashboard, then go to Plugins, and underneath Super Rollback, select the Add License option.
You don’t see a Change License option in the image below because I’ve already added my license.
Your premium license key can be found in your welcome email or Super Rollback account.
Step 2: Update Plugins as Usual
Before Super Rollback can revert a plugin to its previous version, it must be updated to a new one.
You can’t revert the plugins you’ve just installed on your website.
So keep the Super Rollback activated on your website and start updating your installed plugins as usual. Super Rollback saves the previous version of the updated plugins with every new update as a safety net for when you need to revert to an earlier version.
Step 3: Choose Rollback Version
When you want to rollback a plugin to an earlier version, just go to Plugins, scroll down to the plugin, and select the Rollback option underneath the plugin’s name.
Next, choose the past version, add a note on why the rollback was necessary, and hit the Confirm Rollback button.
Within a few seconds, the rollback will be complete.
That’s it. That’s how easy it is to use the Super Rollback plugin to revert any plugin installed on your website to a previous version.
